HIWA RAUF, CHAIRMAN
Mr. Hiwa Rauf is a well-known entrepreneur in Iraq. He graduated from the University of Baghdad in 1979 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, upon graduation he worked in the construction industry for over 15 years.
Since the late 1990s Mr. Rauf has been involved with the fast developing telecoms industry in the Kurdistan Region and wider Iraq, he holds interests in both the mobile telecoms sector and Wireless Internet Service amongst others.
In 2012 Mr. Rauf founded Hiwa Rauf for Investment and Development (HRID) with the aim of nurturing a diverse range of building projects that would improve and set new standards in the country

Who we work with
At Hiwa Rauf Investment and Development (HRID), we work with the local government to implement projects that benefit the public. Our major projects, such as Downtown, is often granted licenses on the condition that we, the developer, complete a project that serves the community. We are proud to be leaders in this field in the Kurdistan Region.

Mr. Rawaz Rauf
Mr. Rawaz Rauf serves as a non-executive board member and strategic advisor to Hiwa Rauf Investment and Development, where he plays a key role in advancing the company’s sustainability goals and supporting access to international financing. His involvement strengthens HRID’s alignment with global standards and contributes to its long-term strategic direction. Rawaz is a seasoned investor and advisor with over 14 years of experience in Iraq’s telecommunications, insurance, building materials, and real estate sectors. He is a partner at Euphrates Ventures, a venture capital firm investing in technology startups across Kurdistan and Iraq, and serves on the board of AmCham Kurdistan. Rawaz holds an MBA from the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) and an engineering degree from University College London.

Mr. Rebaz Rauf
Mr. Rebaz Rauf represents a new generation of leadership focused on innovation, institutional growth, and long-term impact. A graduate of the University of Slemani (BSc) and the American University of Iraq–Sulaimani (MBA), he combines technical understanding with business strategy to lead the company forward. Prior to his role at HRID, Mr. Rauf gained extensive experience in the construction and development sector, with a deep background in industrial operations and production line management. This foundation has shaped his pragmatic approach to execution, operational excellence, and systems thinking. As CEO, he has helped shape HRID’s culture around performance, accountability, and professional development. He has built a high-performing, diverse team working alongside both local and international professionals. His leadership is centered on future-ready systems, ethical practices, and sustainable business models.

Dr. Nabaz Mahmood
Dr. Nabaz brings a strong background in both academia and corporate finance, with expertise in financial accounting, budgeting, and reporting. He currently serves as Accounting Manager at HRID and Assistant Professor at the University of Sulaimani, combining practical financial leadership with academic insight.

Awin brings a wealth of experience from both the private and international development sectors. Her background includes work in foreign direct investment, and extensive expertise in employability and capacity building of employees, economic recovery, and private sector development.
